Since receiving outline planning consent in October 2017 to deliver a new residential led development including 800 new homes, we have been working with Harworth to develop the landscape infrastructure for the brownfield site.
The legacy of Thorseby Colliery, which operated between 1925 to 2015, presented challenges but also unrivalled opportunities to create a new community at Thorseby Vale. This includes the former spoil heap, the highest vantage point for miles around and offering unrivalled panoramic views of Sherwood Forest – is being restored to create a 350-acre Country park, with multiple ecological habitats and significant areas of green infrastructure
The landscape strategy and character types of the streetscape, green spaces and gateway spaces is fundamental to the place making and vision for the proposed development. The primary design principle is to utilise the existing landscape assets to create a verdant, visually cohesive framework with a wealth of recreational opportunities promoting engagement with the wider community
